Hot. Dog!

Is it the most American event there is? I guess it depends on which stereotype you go for. But if you think the U.S.A. is a larger than life, loud, celebratory, carefree place that is a little bit ridiculous and rewards consumption, then Nathan's Hotdog Eating Contest in Coney Island ticks every box.

It was the 100th anniversary of the event and the stage was set. The year before, champion competitive eater and crowd darling Joey Chestnut lost for the first time in eight years to feather weight Matt Stonie (he's very skinny). It was a HUGE upset. This year, on this auspicious occasion, could Joey "Jaws" Chestnut regain HIS title? Well...yes. He did.
