A lot of people downplay the whole New Year's Eve thing. They say it's just another day, what's the big deal? And yeah technically it's true, but it is a definite marker in time and always a good opportunity to look back on the previous year and reflect and then look toward the new year and make plans (that may or may not be stuck to, but it's nice to have good intentions).
So looking back, 2015 was a cracker of a year for me personally, a lot of great work and fantastic travel. But globally, it felt that the whole world had forgotten to take it's meds. I lost count of the number of terrorist attacks and mass shootings that took place. I literally found myself trying to take stock of them all as I roamed Times Square covering the celebrations as the final hours of 2015 gave way to the first hours of 2016. I know I'm not alone in hoping things calm down a little around the globe this year and that cool heads prevail. Time will tell.
Anyway, here's a happy photo of people playing in the confetti at 3am on January 1, 2016. Happy New Year!
